Director Chuck Russell's fantasy-adventure prequel to the Mummy series takes no prisoners. In ancient Egypt, peasant Mathayus (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is hired to exact revenge on the powerful Memnon (Steven Brand) and the sorceress Cassandra (Kelly Hu), who are ready to overtake Balthazar's (Michael Clarke Duncan) village. Amid betrayals, thieves, abductions and more, Mathayus strives to bring justice to his complicated world.

This prequel to The Mummy Returns is nearly as good, though The Rock manages to make the whole adventure somewhat comical with his corny acting. Luckily the rest of the cast is fairly good, and the plot is decent.
