Mavis (Charlize Theron) heads back to her home town to win back her highschool boyfriend (Patrick Wilson) - who already has a pregnant wife. Along the way she also encounters highschool misfit, Matt (Patton Oswalt), who quickly becomes her reluctant confidant.

Charlize Theron's character is so ridiculous, yet she pulls it off believably - and the film wraps up in an unusually non-judgemental way that feels satisfying rather than trite or preachy. Not hilarious, but amusingly well done.
