Girl, Interrupted
1999

Diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, Susanna Kaysen (Winona Ryder) gets sent to a mental institution for a short stay but spends the next year avoiding her fears, descending into the skewed world of people who truly belong on the inside. Angelina Jolie won an Oscar for her haunting portrayal of Lisa Rowe, the seductive and dangerous patient who forces Kaysen to face what she's really afraid of.

Jolie did deserve the Oscar, even though the character resembled at least part of her actual self I think. Full of disturbing mental institution types, so not a comfortable movie to watch. I thought Brittany Murphy's character was the most poignant.
