What is love, anyway, but the fast lane to heartache? At least, that's what Halley (Mandy Moore) thinks when learning "how to deal" with the complicated relationships in her life, which seem to point to a common conclusion: reality bites. Her father's getting remarried, and her sister is engaged to the wrong guy. But her best friend's also in a crisis, and a bad boy (Trent Ford) is determined to finagle a date with her.

This was such an overblown caricature of relationships that the first half seemed to be a comedy, not a romance. Mandy Moore is passable throughout - the rest of the cast is a disaster in the beginning and gets better as the movie progresses.
