While hiding out in the school library to escape a gang of bullies, young Bastian (Jason James Richter) finds The NeverEnding Story, a tome that transports the reader to the magical land of Fantasia and weaves the day-to-day life of the reader in its tale. When the class bullies figure all this out, they steal the book from the library and begin to script in chaos -- as Bastian scrambles to restore order.
