Via flashback, he recounts to his kids (Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie) 25 years later the often-hilarious story of how he met -- and eventually married -- their mother. Neil Patrick Harris plays Ted's barhopping buddy.

Amusing show with a bit more depth than its many jokes. The more recent seasons have minimized Ted's role in the plot line, which ruined some of the chemistry the cast had going.
