The film tells the story of Davy Crockett and Georgie Russell trying to get their haul of fur pelts to the Mississippi River in order to take them to market. The captain of a keelboat they hope to make passage on tries to charge them an exorbitant fee, and then gets Georgie drunk and challenges him and Crockett to a keelboat race with the pelts as the prize.
