The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
2001

From the idyllic shire of the Hobbits to the smoking chasms of Mordor, director Peter Jackson has created a world that surpasses the expectations of J.R.R. Tolkien purists as Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) embarks on his epic quest for the one true ring. The movie -- which nabbed 13 Oscar nominations -- is superbly cast with actors such as Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), and stays remarkably true to the book.

Well For the 1st movie It was pretty good, I did want to fall asleep a few times though. But that goes for all 3.

Out of all three LoTR movies, this is the one I liked the most (and the one I remembered more than a few minutes of!) Still on the over-long side.

Not as engaging as other fantasy series like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as a film - this is much better in book form.
