Fun idea bogged down by repetitive gameplay and extremely finicky physics. It's kind of stuck in a no-man's land between Mario and LBP, with the bad parts of both and none of the good. Art is lush yet undifferentiated and somehow generic.
My favorite Discworld novel (well, possibly tied with Thud). Captures the hope and cynicism of revolutionary times, as always with Pratchett's on-spot humor.
One of the best of the "new" Discworld novels. Very intriguing new characters, lots of humorous surprises, and (always a plus) plenty of Vetinari.
First book I read of Stephenson; he's now one of my very favorite authors. Origin of a lot of modern VR and cyberpunk tropes, but it feels fresh nonetheless!
Very amusing, even more so than the excellent movie. I really enjoyed the "translation" gimmick, it added another layer of humor over the whole affair.
Sooo very slow. I tried hard to get into this after all my friends recommended it to me, but it just kept dragging on.
Classic for a reason. Has that same sense of tension and slow-building drama that made Das Boot work so well. Humor in the first half balanced by tragedy later.
At the very topmost echelons of video-game writing and plot development. However, heavily marred by numerous bugs and poorly designed mechanics and UI.
Lovely concept, very satisfying to play and watch (die virii die!). Loved the intro demos. But, I wish the plot mechanics (i.e. factories) were real in game.
A very powerful movie, albeit one with serious fridge logic problems. Required viewing for anime fans, but I wouldn't start out the genre with this one...
Captures the feel of the highly-regarded series perfectly, both the good (bluesy feel, music, character development) and the not so good (giant plot holes).
Good but in an unexpected way. I saw it because it was "from the creator of Akira", but it was really a different sort of anime entirely, with a lighter tone.
You know exactly why you love this movie: it is endlessly quotable. But besides that, it's just an entertaining, funny story.
For a while it was so bad it was hilarious. Then it became so bad that it was actually awe inspiring. I'm giving it half a point for pouring bees on Cage.
Exactly what I was hoping for, a solid sequel to the original Galaxy which yet has its own tweaks and innovations. Perfect range of difficulty and styles. Amazing orchestral soundtrack. Starship Mario is a bit cramped, but the levels make up for it.
